Hubble and Webb capture Cat's Head Nebula inside Carina Nebula

The NASA/ESA Hubble and NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescopes have both imaged a shadowy star-forming structure inside the Carina Nebula, a gas and dust cloud approximately 7500 light-years from Earth. The structure, nicknamed the Cat's Head Nebula, appears differently in each telescope's view. Hubble's visible-light imagery shows a dark, elongated dust pillar with hints of young forming stars. Webb's infrared-light imagery reveals many stars and other details hidden from Hubble's view. The two observations are described as complementary.
