Emirates Dubai 7s adds HSBC SVNS 3 to make world's biggest sevens tournament
Emirates Dubai 7s will host HSBC SVNS 3 alongside the HSBC SVNS Series for the first time at The Sevens Stadium on November 27-29, bringing together 28 international men's and women's teams across both competitions and 70 matches over the weekend.
HSBC SVNS 3 is the third tier of international rugby sevens and offers nations a pathway toward Olympic qualification via promotion to HSBC SVNS 2 and HSBC SVNS. The men's SVNS 3 field includes Hong Kong China, Canada, Chile, Italy, Samoa and Zimbabwe; the women's field includes China, Mexico, Poland, Samoa and Colombia, with one team still to qualify.
In the main HSBC SVNS draw, New Zealand will defend the men's and women's titles they won in Dubai last year. The men open against Fiji at 12.36pm on Saturday; the women open against Japan at 11.06am.

ECB survey: euro area banks tighten credit and report falling loan demand
Euro area banks tightened credit standards for loans to firms and consumer credit in the third quarter of 2026, according to the ECB's October 2026 bank lending survey of 159 banks. A net 9% of banks reported tighter standards for corporate loans, exceeding the 5% they had expected in the previous round. A net 14% tightened standards for consumer credit. Standards for housing loans were unchanged. Higher risk perceptions and reduced risk tolerance were the main drivers, with some banks citing geopolitical uncertainty and energy developments. Demand fell across all segments. Corporate loan demand posted a net decline of 6%, reversing a small increase in the second quarter. Housing loan demand fell sharply, with a net 27% of banks reporting a decrease, driven mainly by higher interest rates. Consumer credit demand edged down by a net 2%.
