DBS to contribute safeguarding expertise across Wales in November 2026
Wales National Safeguarding Week runs from 9 to 13 November 2026, bringing organisations and professionals together around safeguarding awareness, learning and practice.
The Disclosure and Barring Service is contributing expertise through Owain Rowlands, DBS Regional Outreach Adviser for Wales, to sessions organised by Regional Safeguarding Boards across Wales.
Confirmed sessions include a DBS fundamentals session with Cardiff & Vale Safeguarding Board on 9 November, a Legal Duty to Refer workshop with Gwent Safeguarding Board on 9 November, an awareness session with North Wales Safeguarding Board on 11 November, a Legal Duty to Refer workshop with Mid and West Wales Safeguarding Board on 13 November, and a session on harmful behaviour outside the workplace with West Glamorgan Safeguarding Board on 13 November.
Subjects covered across the sessions include DBS checks and eligibility, regulated activity, referral responsibilities and barring.
