The Chancellor of the Exchequer has written to the Governor of the Bank of England to set out the monetary policy remit for the Monetary Policy Committee. The Bank of England Act 1998 requires the Treasury to specify at least once every 12 months, in a period beginning 1 June, how price stability should be defined and what the government's economic policy consists of. The full remit is published as a six-page PDF on the government's website.
